Guys . . . GoodReads!

I know, I know. It's been around forever. Everyone knows about it. But I had never even once checked it out. Which is probably a terrible thing to admit as a bookworm, but I just never even knew what it actually was, I guess. I've recently been shown the error of my ways.
Last week while attending a webinar about how to use GoodReads for publishers and authors, I learned so much, and I was eager to actually explore the site. I immediately fell down a deep hole that had me following authors and adding over three hundred books to my already read list and trying desperately to remember everything I'd ever read. (Yes, even childhood–what can I say? I have a little girl who I'm hoping will be a reader, so I was trying to recall all of little Kiana's favorites . . .) I know I'm missing literally hundreds of books, but I'll keep adding to it as things come back to me.
Obviously, I'm hoping to use GoodReads for all kinds of things. To get ideas for my next read, to have fun discussions, maybe start doing actual book reviews, avoid books I'd be better off avoiding, and (once I finally publish) use it for author-y purposes. But I really, really want to find people who are already on there (I know nobody, unfortunately) and active. Or maybe just try to get more people to join up like I did?
Now, this actually may not be in my reader reputation's best interest–I'll admit, I've read some weird and/or embarrassing things over the years–but I've worked to actually put down things that I've read all the way through, whether I liked them or not. And sometimes I read terribly written things and enjoy them. A lot of times, I read some dark and twisty stuff, and I thrive off of it. Every once in a while I'll toss in a happy-go-lucky easy read and an informational book (which I'm trying to read more of, so hit me with suggestions if you've got any!). But I'm trying to be an open book here (see what I did there? ...I'm keeping it.), so go. Get on GoodReads. Add your books. Friend me. And then let's talk all things books and reading!
