If You Love Me, Don't Buy My Book . . .

Now that I have your attention, I'm only half joking. Allow me to explain:
I'm likely to be selling mainly through Amazon (though I've made Inkling available through all kinds of different distributers), so I have to strategize and follow their rules. Then, add the fact that I am publishing in a rather, well, particular genre. Honestly, I realize that a lot of people don't read or buy poetry–such is life–which means I have to work a lot harder to give my first book a chance.
The thing about Amazon is that the majority of sales are likely to come from their recommendations. So if you don't read poetry normally and buy my book, Amazon gets confused about just who my audience actually is/should be. Then they start recommending Inkling to people who would never have read it anyway and continuously marketing it to others like them. Which brings me to how you CAN help!
If you already read poetry, for sure buy it! But, if it's not your usual fare and you just want to support me or give it a try, I'm going to ask you to wait. About a month or two. Then, I will eagerly wait for you to read it and gladly hear your opinions, good or bad. If, however, you are really curious and impatient, find a friend who already likes poetry and ask them to buy it for you. (I know, that can be a hassle, but I'm begging you as a newly minted author: Help me give my first book a decent debut!)
And once you've read it, the most important thing you can do is write a review anywhere and everywhere and tell your friends about your honest thoughts on Inkling. (Though preferably not on Amazon if you're a part of my family/close friends, because Amazon will penalize that.) So that's the gist of it, thank you for not buying my book, lol! Bet you never thought you'd hear an author say that . . . ;)
Inkling is set to be published on January 1, 2021, when you can buy it in print. Want it ASAP? You can pre-order the ebook through Amazon and get it as soon as it's out. Pre-order here:
