Is This Only Going to Be About Poetry?

If you've been following along so far, I'm sure you've noticed a theme. Honestly, poetry isn't all I do, nor is it all I read or write, so why all the focus on it? Well, simply because that's what I'm trying to pursue right now. But that doesn't mean it's all this blog or website or what-have-you will ever be. I have plans. Not necessarily big plans, but plans all the same.
I'm pretty confident in saying that I'm a creative person. (Though, I'll admit, my whimsical and imaginative nature aren't usually apparent face-to-face.) I've built up my interests and hobbies around experiments, crafting, art, literature, and anything new to which my mind takes a fancy. Which ends up being a lot of things. Once you're in my creative circle, you might accuse me of being too scattered and terrible at focusing on any one creative pursuit at a time.
In a way, you'd be correct. You see me making TikTok videos, doing blackout poetry, trying to write two new poetry manuscripts, blogging about poetry, and chatting all about where I am in the publishing process. That seems like a lot of separate things. But I also, typically am pretty good at focusing my creative energies toward one genre at a time. Right now, I'm in a poetry bubble, though I'll admit I'm not sure how long that will be my main focus.
Right now, I am working on three other books (besides the aforementioned poetry manuscripts). Though I'm taking my time with them and just adding to them a bit over time, I haven't dropped them, nor do I have any intention of doing so. And they are each wildly different. For instance, I'm going to try my hand at a non-fiction work. I've got a basic idea of how it needs to go and I've already started it. I'm also working on a novel: It's a twisty fairytale mashup with a lot of world building still to do. Not to mention my children's book that is written, but I'm figuring out the visual aesthetic I'd like.
And don't even get me started on my hobbies! I like knitting, I'm trying to take up sewing, looking into sticker making, have a bunch of carving tools (that I really want to pick back up), some jewelry-making things just collecting dust until I can concentrate, weaving and braiding materials galore, watercolor and acrylic paints that are crying out to be used, and I do photography whenever I can. (Note to self - write a post about my craft closet, because I'm super proud, whether anyone is interested or not.)
Basically, the long answer is no. This blog will not all be about poetry. It is for now, but I really don't like to limit myself like that. Eventually, I'll be tackling new projects that will get the majority of my creative attentions, but for now, I'm trying to get through one focus at a time. I'm always happy to talk creative projects though - whether or not I have an understanding of of experience with it. So while the blog is currently poetry-centric, if you want to chat about crafting or anything else, let's do it! Head over to the forum I set up (for this exact purpose, actually) and we can natter on all day. Hope to see you there!
