You Keep Mentioning Other Books . . .

I know, I know: I keep claiming to have written three books of poetry, but I also keep only really talking about one. Inkling is special to me because it's the first one I'd like to pursue publishing, but that doesn't mean that I'm not equally excited about the other two. Now I'm not saying I have favorites, but I definitely can't wait to see how people react to the second book. (Yes, I know - getting a bit ahead of myself, but that's just going to be the case when you don't want to go through publishing several books at once.)

Anyway, though there is a brief description on the website, here are some things to know: Firstly, the title is HEaR. And I know there will be questions - because I actually already get this question a lot - so the title is "hear" but the capitalized letters spell "her" and that was intentional. This particular book focuses a lot on learning to speak up for myself and it's also about particular things I've been through as a child, woman, wife, mother, and friend. So naming it HEaR felt right, with a nerdy, Easter egg twist.

This book, like the other two, has been divided into three sections that follow a pattern of growth. It allowed me to really give each poem it's place and for the whole book to unfold in a natural progression. (At least, I think so - I'll have to wait and see what readers take away from it.) The narrative have a sort of expanding thing going on. In my mind, the emotions are equal to watching a pot of water become steam. It starts as one thing, it reaches a volatile point, but eventually rises above it all to become something new.

As you can probably imagine, that means there's a wide variety in what's inside. There are petty poems, heartfelt ones, grieving pieces, and some that I'm not even sure how to describe. All in all though, it is full of poems that I particularly liked - even from the initial writing stages. If Inkling is a general insight into my mind, then HEaR is a more detailed dive into my defining experiences and emotions.

And I know - I keep saying this, but I really hope I get to share these soon! Obviously, I have no intention of publishing all three books at once (Hello, insanity!), but I am actively pursuing publishing each one in its proper time and giving each work its best chance. So here's to hoping and working and trying to get this out to you as soon as possible!
